In a world plagued by Kaiju, Kafka Hibino promises to enlist in The Defense Force with his friend, Mina Ashiro; years later, he meets Reno Ichikawa; Reno's drive to join The Defense Force reawakens Kafka's promise to join Mina his childhood friend who is the commander of the force and protect humanity.
